How To Apply for FASFA
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is used to apply for federal student aid includin, grants, work-study and student loans.
How do I apply for the FAFSA?
You can file electronically or by mail.
When do I apply?
Submit your form beginning July 1, 2010 and no later than June 30, 2011
- Remember the earlier you apply the better
- Parents should complete their tax return prior to filling out the FAFSA if claimed as a dependent
- Each university has their own financial aid deadlines, check with the university to see when their deadlines are.
What do I need to begin the process?
- Social security card
- Driver’s license
- Most Recent W-2 form
- Most Recent Federal Income Tax Return
- Current bank statement
- Current business/investment mortgage information, business and farm records, stock bonds and other investment records
- Alien registration or permanent resident card (If not a US citizen)
- If a claimed as a dependent on parent/gaurdian taxes, you will need their tax recoreds.
