How To Make A Recruiting Video
Since every player is unique in their strengths and weaknesses, tapes should be done slightly differently to highlight individual athletes positive attributes.
Here’s a breakdown of things that should be on every tape:
- Keep the video short, no more than 10 minutes long
- Have at least 5 minutes of raw game footage
- About 2 minutes of highlights
- Coaches want to see a well rounded athlete (include assists, defensive skills, and teamwork)
- Make sure the video is labeled and includes a jersey number and jersey color
- Don’t add a loud music soundtrack
- Make sure the video is of good quality
Once your recruiting tape is made and is ready to mailed out, make sure to include:
- Recent transcript
- ACT/ACT tape
- Contact information
- Coach references
- Make sure you contact the coach before sending in your video, via email expressing your interest in their program
